Dumbbell Cake (44th Cake Made)

December 7th, 2011

My local gym were celebrating their 5th Birthday  ( With all the cake I HAVE to go to the gym!!) as they have all become friends they asked me to make a cake, im going to call it my first ‘corporate’ cake ha! I was told it can be a very simple and easy cake…….I don’t do simple lol so I went for a 3D dumbbell cake! Covering the dumbbells and getting them to stand up was tricky and I had Jessicas cake, this cake and the next cake all to do within days of each other so I was rather stressed but everyone was so so thrilled with the finished cake and they didn’t want to cut it!!!!Makes it all worth it! :)

Jessicas 1st Birthday Cake (43rd Cake Made)

December 7th, 2011

Well, I did Jessica’s Christening cake, so her mum came to me for her 1st Birthday cake too! She had quite a specific idea in mind which just sounded so lovely! I wish I had made this for My daughters birthday!! :)  This cake almost looks simple, but I think by now you will realise, they are never easy !! The cake needed to be able to be separated for 2 parties. The fondant was super soft as its a different make so im not sure if it did the job without pulling it a part a bit , hopefully it did!!!!

It was all chocolate!!!!! Yum!!! Finally got to again taste a cake I made and it was sooooo yummy!! :) I don’t normally make cupcakes but this year  they went very well with the cake :)

Dylans Christening Cake (41st Cake Made)

November 27th, 2011

..See! A Very popular design! :) It was actually quite nice to do 2 very similar cakes so close together, made me more confident and helped speed up the process! I love the board on this one, a little more modern . Most of my cake have been butter cream, sponge and sometimes jam, as was this!

Joshuas Christening Cake (40th Cake Made)

November 27th, 2011

This cake is, as you can see, very much like Conors and Zacs cake! A popular design :) Rather simple but but classic and fun! I put darker hair on this baby model on the cake since Joshua has dark hair :) The spray on the top was so easy to do but really looks good on this design ! Very happy with how this turned out……the next cake was, again, something very similar!!…..

Macy’s 3rd Birthday Cake (39th Cake Made)

November 23rd, 2011

A little girl loves horses and this girl was no exception wanting a cake with a horse on it! :) I saw a design very similar on the internet and it was perfect! Not too big but different to anything ive done before :) Pink Buttercream, of course, and madeira . Even though the piping was a little tricky and didn’t half hurt my had,  I would be happy to do this cake over and over again! :)

Jessicas 2nd Birthday Cake (38th Cake Made)

November 23rd, 2011

I was asked to do a cake based around a fairy land/gardens with pretty girlie things. This cake turned out well, huge! but you can never have too much cake! Making the fairy was tricky and time consuming and that rainbow was my worst enemy for a while! In hindsight I should have made it from gumpaste so it would have remained ridged but it still worked out fine!! Phew!

60th Cake ( 37th Cake Made)

November 23rd, 2011

You will most likely recognise this cake! It is the same as one I did when I very first started doing cakes !!!! ( And I did a green version not long ago too!!) The client liked that one so much she just wanted a replica for her mums 60th, no mention of 60 and a fun cake! Its all very pink but it tastes yellow :) as in Lemon! Lemon buttercream and cake! It was fun to make, I just wish I got to try some!!!!

Demi-Leas Christening Cake (36th Cake Made)

November 20th, 2011

A Christening cake for a girl! Fabulous! Demi-Leas mum had a few ideas in mind and ended up requesting a cake a little different then those I had made before. I loved the chance I had to make pretty roses but I was very disappointed with how this cake turned out overall. The cake and weather meant it just got too warm and everything moved about causing the ridge. Nothing I could do made it any better so I had to send it off as it was. A lot of lessons were learnt on this cake and I vowed never to have this happen again!

Cycling Theme 50th Birthday Cake (35th Cake Made)

November 20th, 2011

My husband is a keen cyclist so I did get his input on this one!! I love how bright and  almost whimsical this cake turned out. The Sky I just dabbed on blue colouring. I would LOVE and airbrushing kit and it would have been great for this kind of challenge but as it happened, the sky turned out so well regardless. I often get worried half way through a cake about how it will turn out as they often just don’t look good! But it always works out okay, its just the process the cake has to go through!!! I believe this cake went down a storm and when the lady picked it up she had to give me a big hug. That made me smile :)
